SVP Medical Affairs

Our client based in the UK seeks an experienced SVP Medical Affairs to lead the international medical organization with a reporting line into the President, EMEA.

S/he will serve as a core member of the executive leadership team for the EMEA business. This SVP will thus oversee the Medical Affairs Leadership Team that sets the vision and strategic direction for the MA function and will be accountable for resources and headcount for MA across the Region.

Profile 
  • Medical Degree (or equivalent) ideally supported by board certification in a relevant discipline (GI, Oncology, Immunology, Rare Disease)
  • Substantial pharmaceutical industry experience which must include Medical Affairs – past experience in Rare Diseases is desirable. 
  • Track record in substantive upgrading of a medical function within a growing organization. 
  • Multiple years in a Medical leadership role within the pharmaceutical industry. 
  • Above-country Medical Affairs experience is required (EU, EMEA, APAC). 
  • Outstanding leadership profile with a track record of effective direct- and in-direct line management. 
  • Proven leadership capability in aligning regional medical strategies with corporate goals and providing critical business shaping insights. 
  • Experience aligning strategy and operations activities across medical affairs and commercial. 
  • Past experience in licensing due diligence and asset evaluation ideally across multiple therapeutic areas.

  • Natural problem-solving skills and the ability to challenge conventional thinking. 
  • Innovative and persuasive individual with a pragmatic, hands-on approach. 
  • Learning agility with the potential to take on broader responsibilities as the client company grows.
